What to check before you call

Make sure the thermostat is set to heat and the temperature is above the room temperature
Check that the furnace switch and the breaker are on
Replace a dirty air filter, which can restrict airflow

If these do not restore heat, or you smell gas, do not keep trying. If you smell gas, leave the home and call your gas utility from outside.
