Heat Pump Replacement in Wichita: Your Options
A heat pump heats and cools with one outdoor unit. In Wichita, most homes choose between three setups: an all-electric heat pump with an air handler, a dual fuel system that pairs a heat pump with a gas furnace, or a ductless mini split for rooms the ductwork does not reach. We help you pick the one that fits your home, size it to the house, and install it.

Installed starting prices
These are starting prices from our Wichita pricebook for standard installations. Your final price is confirmed in writing after a free in-home evaluation.
- Dual fuel (heat pump plus gas furnace): from $9,550 for a 2-ton system with an 80% furnace. High-efficiency 92% to 95% furnace options start at $10,457.
- All-electric heat pump with air handler: from $10,361 for a 2-ton system. Higher-efficiency and variable-capacity systems run up to about $21,331 for a 5-ton premium system.
- Ductless mini split (single zone): from $4,380 for an 18,000 BTU wall unit.
Members receive a discount on most installed systems. Higher tiers include more years of labor warranty and maintenance membership; every complete system carries a 10-year manufacturer parts warranty.
Dual fuel or all-electric?
- Dual fuel runs the heat pump through most of the year and switches to the gas furnace on the coldest days. It is a common choice for Wichita homes that already have gas.
- All-electric uses the heat pump plus electric backup heat strips in the air handler for very cold weather. It fits homes without gas service.
- Either way, the backup heat source is what keeps the house warm during a hard freeze. We explain how your system switches over and what it costs to run before you decide.
What changes the price
- System size (tonnage) and efficiency tier
- Dual fuel versus all-electric, and the furnace efficiency on dual fuel
- Ductwork changes, electrical work or a panel upgrade
- Equipment location, such as attics or tight closets
- Bringing the installation up to current code
Repair or replace?
- Consider replacing if the heat pump is more than about 12 to 15 years old and needs a compressor or another major repair.
- Repair usually makes sense for a newer system with a failed part such as a capacitor, contactor, defrost board or fan motor.
- Not sure? See furnace installation and system packages, or ask for an estimate and we will tell you plainly.
